The A2 category of driving licence permits the use of motorcycles without sidecars and have an engine power of 35 kW. The power/weight ratio of the motorbike must not exceed 0.2kW/kg.

Driving license category A2 is the second level of motorcycle driving licence. It permits the use of small-sized motorcycles (up to 50cc) and mopeds with a maximum capacity of 125cc. The goal of the class is to let you slowly climb the ladder of engine power, and then ponder the possibility of a bigger one. The test is more challenging and requires more understanding.
The category A2 driving licence is valid until you reach the age of 24. It can be used together with the category A1 car driving licence or as an interim driver's license. If you're over 24 years old, however you must have a full category A driving license to operate a motorcycle that have more than 35 kW.
You can get your group A1 license at 16 years old (in Denmark, Malta, and Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic; in Germany, Hungary, Iceland and in the following countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Italy and Poland). Once you're over 16, you must take the motorbike test in category A2. You must pass this test before the age of 18. After two years, you can change to the category A.
After passing the test in category A2, you can drive a motorcycle with or without a sidecar, and vehicles on three wheels with a power of up to 35 kW. They must also have a power/weight ratio of not greater than 0.2 kW/kg and cannot be made from a vehicle that has twice the maximum power.
If you have completed a two-part moped test or motorcycle test in a lower category from the 1st of July 1996, then you can skip the theory test and take the test in practice. You can ride a smaller moped or scooter that has L plates or you can take the new AM licence that will enable you to ride 50cc bikes with a maximum speed of 45mph. The AM licence will only be valid if you've passed the test in your theory and have completed nine hours of training, divided into theory and practical lessons at a driving school.
Vehicles with four wheels
This category covers all motor vehicles with four wheels that aren't passenger cars or buses. It also covers utility vehicles such as vans, pickups and panels. Also included are motor homes, campers and trucks. This category also includes vehicles such as hearses, ambulances and carryalls, which are designed to carry more than eight passengers or have a maximum authorised mass of greater than 500 kg. To be able to drive a car of this class, you have to have passed the theory test. You will need to complete 12 90-minute lessons on the basic material, and 4 90-minute lessons on the additive (category AA2). The exams in the theory require a minimum score of 70%.
If you pass the theory test, you will have to take a driving exam on private land and on roads that are public. After passing both tests, you will receive an application for your driving license. The request for a license must be submitted to the local authority within three years after passing the practical test.
After passing your driving test, you can begin to drive vehicles of the category A2.
